This webinar will feature two PIDS studies, namely, “Decent Work in Crowdwork: Gendered Takeaways from an Online Survey in the Philippines” and “Filipinos’ Access and Exposure to ICT: A General Overview based on the National ICT Household Survey”.

PIDS Senior ²ÝÝ®ÊÓÆµ Fellow Connie Bayudan-Dacuycuy and PIDS ²ÝÝ®ÊÓÆµ Analyst II Lora Kryz Baje examined the experience of Filipinos in crowdwork, a platform work that poses challenges in the enforcement of national labor laws as transactions typically cross borders.  They emphasized the need to analyze issues in online platform to prevent the widening and deepening of existing inequalities and ensure decent work.

Meanwhile, PIDS ²ÝÝ®ÊÓÆµ Fellow Aubrey D. Tabuga and PIDS ²ÝÝ®ÊÓÆµ Analyst Carlos Cabaero provided an overview of the use of information and communications technology (ICT) based on the 2019 National ICT Household Survey results. In particular, they described the extent of overall ICT use by Filipinos aged 10 and above including, but not limited, to device use, frequency of usage, and purpose. They also examined online entrepreneurship and its opportunities and constraints, and provided insights to improve ICT utilization in the country.
