As the country accelerates its shift toward renewable energy, critical questions emerge about the reliability, affordability, and resilience of its energy system: How prepared is the Philippines to navigate the opportunities and challenges of the energy transition? Can we achieve a clean energy future without compromising energy security?
To explore these issues, the ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ (PIDS) invites the public to the Policy Forum titled “Energy Security in the Age of Renewables: Is the Philippines Ready for the Energy Transition?” on June 24, 2026, from 10:30 AM to 12:00 PM at Seminar Room A, World Trade Center Metro Manila, Pasay City.
Held in conjunction with , the country’s premier energy trade event organized by Informa Markets, the forum will feature a presentation by Dr. Adoracion Navarro, Senior ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ Fellow at PIDS, on her study, “How Energy Secure is the Philippines?”
The study provides an evidence-based assessment of the country’s energy security across key dimensions, including sufficiency, reliability, resilience, affordability, accessibility, and sustainability. It also examines the opportunities, risks, and policy challenges associated with the country’s transition toward a more renewable energy-driven future and offers timely policy recommendations for strengthening energy security amid the global shift toward cleaner energy sources.
Following the presentation, representatives from the energy sector will share their insights on the study’s findings and discuss their implications for energy planning, grid modernization, renewable energy deployment, and national energy security. The forum aims to foster an evidence-informed dialogue on how the Philippines can balance sustainability, affordability, reliability, and energy security while advancing its energy transition goals.
Participation is free and open to the public. Interested participants may pre-register at on or before June 22, as the form will automatically close after the deadline. Walk-in participants will be accommodated subject to venue capacity, but priority will be given to those who have pre-registered. Refreshments will also be provided to the attendees.
